Protected Child

 

I remember this sketch.  I remember trying a painting from it but nothing good came of it.  I remember that wish we all have to protect our children from all harm.  And that maddening knowledge that we can't. 

Catching up

Difficulties with Blogger made me post on FB but not here.  Time to catch up with the next few images from my old notebook.

On Friday, I posted this sketch.  Done from a sculpture a few years ago at Mass Moca.  I remember a series of very realistic tigers studded with arrows.  It was quite impressive.   

Monday, I posted this early abstraction.  2 Spirals.  I went through a period of spirals and still enjoy looking at them.  Here is below a drawing I did from that sketch, in oil pastels:

Tuesday was the turn of this page:

It shows an early effort at incorporating comics and children's books.  A potential page for Mothers Can't Get Sick were I do do it again.  

And earlier tonight, I posted this sketch of a beautiful statue in Paris and sketched quickly later on from memory:

I remember this as a sketch for a painting that I worked on for a while and then didn't keep.  Fun to find birds were there already.  

The Child

 

The most important person in the Queen's life.  Eliciting all kinds of feelings, from elation to exasperation to anxiety:  the Child.  

News from the Child

 

Very little bit of news last week.  More came later.  But for a while it was not quite enough. 

Flying Child

 

The child is on her way abroad.  With all the possible excitements and falls that entails.  Got to keep breathing... 

Luggage

 

The child is packed!  One check-in, one carry-on and one personal.  Made it.   They didn't count the birds.

In honor of Father's Day weekend, here comes the Green Family.  

Parade

 

Child, Fool and Bear.  Where do these come from?  I was driving back from Williamstown thinking of a tiny native watercolor of 2 youths on horses I saw at the College Museum.  And these 3 popped in my mind.  The fool was leading.  But I enjoyed putting the child first when it came to drawing.
