my favorite model

From sketch club.  My favorite model, Erica.  Takes graceful and classical poses.  Effortlessly.

This image is begging to be visited over and over.

demon#26

Up to the viewer to assign a power to that demon.  (Insecurity, anxiety, doubt are familiar ones for me.)

motherhood

A second drawing from a detail of one of Vivian Maier's photographs.  There will be more.  I am intrigued by the possibilities of using the same basic inspiration and go from there.  (pen and ink and colored pencils.)

every morning fight to get up.

My drawing today is MORNING DEMON.  Whether I am asleep or not, getting up is always a fight.  If I push him out at 8, I am victorious.  If we reach 10, the demon leaves chuckling.  Usually we part somewhere in between.

mother with lots to carry!

This is another drawing from a photo by Vivian Maier.  A detail from a picture of a whole family with lots to carry.

whimsicality

Have been accepted to be part of the show Whimsicality at the Albany Center Gallery.  Submitted 4 images from my collages on panels series.  At this point, I don't know how many pieces will be shown or when.

Jaimie... sort of.

The drawing today is from sketch class on Monday night.  Took some liberties with the model who was very thin and petite.

Boater hat

The photographs of Vivian Maier are appealing to draw from.  Especially these days when I am in searching mode.  And sometimes blank mode.

resuming blog with a goal

the dreamer from an old sketch book
I have a goal of posting one drawing a day.  (or as close as possible.)  I hope it will push me to draw more often.  Draw for the sake of drawing.

Sometimes I will post an old drawing, like today, but mostly I will post fresh ones.  I feel a period of search is in order and this will help.  What exactly do I want to draw?  How?

For the last year, I have put my efforts to show in galleries to rest.  (Except when it requires no effort on my part.)  I feel better that way.

I will post whether I consider the drawing successful or not.  I will draw from my imagination, from life, from photographs, mine or others'.  I will copy from paintings, from cartoons.
